Entropion surgery is the operation that corrects the rolling in of the eyelid to restore the comfort and make eyelids more symmetrical.
This surgery fixes the eyelid to a normal position and prevents eyelashes from rubbing into the eyes and symptoms like redness, irritation and watering.
Entropion surgery can provide natural-looking, long-lasting results, often improving the appearance of the eyes for 7-10 years.
Compared to traditional surgeries, entropion surgery can be performed using minimally invasive techniques, reducing recovery time and discomfort.
It can be safely performed on most healthy individuals with minimal risk of complications. But, a consultation with a qualified surgeon is crucial.

Entropion surgery is one of our premier and highly effective treatments to restore both comfort and functionality.
Here is a detailed guide to help you understand the entire process from enquiry to procedure with Mr Jeeva.
Booking a Consultation: The first step is to schedule a consultation with Mr Jeeva, one of our experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeons.
Scheduling Surgery: Given the lead time for surgery, many patients book their surgery slots at the same time as their consultation.
Assessment: During your consultation, Mr Jeeva will thoroughly assess your eyelid’s condition and discuss the results you hope to achieve.
Suitability: Not everyone is suitable for the procedure. Mr Jeeva will provide an honest assessment.
Eligibility Rate: On average, 73% of our patients are suitable for the procedure. The remaining 27% are not, and we will not proceed if we believe the results won't meet your expectations.
Preparation: Before the surgery, the patient is given local anaesthesia to numb the area around the eye to ensure comfort. In some cases, general anaesthesia may be preferred.
Incision: A small incision is made at the outer corner of the lower eyelid. This allows access to the tissues that need to be adjusted.
Positioning the Eyelid: The eyelid is then brought back to normal position either by removing some tissue or using a skin graft.
Bandaging: The eye may be covered with a bandage to protect it during the initial healing period.
Horizontal Tightening: This technique involves creating and stitching a strip from the eyelid to surrounding eye socket tissue.
Everting/Rotational Sutures: It's a quick office procedure that involves the use of stitches to tighten the loose eyelid.
Retractor Reinsertion: During this procedure, eyelid muscles are tightened to correct the inward folding.
Same-Day Discharge: Patients can go home on the same day as the surgery.
After surgery you can expect mild:
--Swelling
-- Bruising
-- Tightness around the eyelid
All of these usually subside within a week or two after surgery.
Take care by:
-- Wearing an eye patch for 24 hours post surgery
-- Applying prescribed ointments
-- Icing the area
-- Following the aftercare tips by Mr Jeeva.
All surgeries carry risks, including cosmetic procedures. There is a very small risk of complications, such as infection, scarring, and blurry/double vision in rare cases.
These risks, along with all aspects of the surgery and its costs, will be discussed during your consultation.
After your surgery, you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions and will have a follow-up appointment about 7 days later to assess healing and remove sutures.

Have a question in mind?
Entropion is an eye condition where the lower eyelid turns inwards, letting the eyelashes rub into the eyeball leading to a sandy feeling in the eye, redness, mucous discharge and vision difficulties.
Entropion surgery corrects the inward rolling of the eyelid and relieves symptoms like irritation, redness, and difficulty in vision.
Symptoms subside gradually. However, healing may take 1-2 weeks, and proper recovery may take months.
The cost of entropion surgery starts from £1200 (for one eye) to £1800 (for both eyes).
Entropion surgery is usually non-painful as local or general anaesthesia is given during the treatment. However, a few patients report mild discomfort after the surgery and relief from pain and discomfort caused by entropion itself.
Entropion surgery is an outpatient procedure performed under local or general anaesthesia. Depending on the type of surgery, the tissue may be tightened or fixed with a skin graft to its normal position.
If entropion is left untreated it can cause advanced damage to your eyeball or lens leading to corneal ulcers and perforation.
Ultimately, deciding on entropion surgery is a personal choice. If you’re bothered by difficulty in vision, watering, redness and irritation and desire the comfort of your eye, entropion surgery could be an option for you. Consulting with our qualified surgeon can help you determine if it’s the right decision for your specific situation.
