Ptosis correction is a cutting-edge procedure that corrects the drooping of one or both upper eyelids.
This surgery fixes the downward displacement of upper eyelids addressing obstructed vision and providing cosmetic benefits.
Ptosis correction can provide amazing, long-lasting results, often improving the appearance of the eyes & vision by lifting your upper eyelids.
Compared to traditional surgeries, ptosis correction can be performed using minimally invasive techniques, reducing recovery time and discomfort.
It can be safely performed on most healthy individuals with minimal risk of complications. But, a consultation with a qualified surgeon is crucial.
Ptosis correction is a surgical procedure that lifts the saggy/droopy upper eyelids. Ptosis can occur due to a weakened levator muscle, which acts to raise the eyelid. Other causes may include ageing, injury, or nerve damage.
By correcting ptosis, this surgery can improve both vision and appearance of the eye, while also helping to ease eye strain and headaches.
You may consider ptosis correction if you are experiencing:
Obstructed Vision
Lifting the eyelid can increase and improve your field of vision, which may be interrupted by the drooping lid.
Sleepy/Droopy Eye Appearance
Lifted eyelids restore a more alert and youthful eye look.
Strained Eyes
Correcting ptosis can decrease the eye fatigue caused by compensating for obstructed vision.
Headaches
By relieving the strain on forehead muscles, ptosis correction can help reduce associated headaches.
Cosmetic Concerns
By lifting the droopy eyelids, ptosis correction surgery improves the overall aesthetics of the eyes and profile.

Here is a detailed guide to help you understand the entire process from enquiry to procedure with Mr Jeeva.
Booking a Consultation: The first step is to schedule a consultation with Mr Jeeva, one of our experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeons.
Scheduling Surgery: Given the lead time for surgery, many patients book their surgery slots at the same time as their consultation.
Assessment: During your consultation, Mr Jeeva will thoroughly assess your eyes, examine the extent of eyelid drooping and discuss the results you hope to achieve.
Suitability: Not everyone is suitable for the procedure. Mr Jeeva will provide an honest assessment.
Eligibility Rate: On average, 73% of our patients are suitable for the procedure. The remaining 27% are not, and we will not proceed if we believe the results won't meet your expectations.
Preparation: Before the surgery, the patient is given local anaesthesia to numb the upper eyelid and surrounding area. In some cases, general anaesthesia may be preferred.
Incision: A small incision is made at the natural crease of the eye (either on it or underside of it) to access the muscles raising the eye.
Positioning the Eyelid: The muscle is then tightened and positioned accordingly. If the muscle is extremely weak, it may be suspended/attached to the forehead muscles.
Suturing: The incisions are precisely closed with fine sutures, which are often hidden into the natural eyelid crease to minimise visibility.
Bandaging: The eye may be covered with a bandage to protect it during the initial healing period.
Same-Day Discharge:
Patients can go home on the same day as the surgery.
After surgery you can expect mild:
-- Swelling
-- Bruising
-- Tightness around the eyelid
All of these usually subside within a week or two after surgery.
Take care by:
-- Wearing an eye patch for 24 hours post surgery
-- Applying prescribed ointmentsIcing the area
-- Avoiding strenuous activities and rubbing or touching the eye.
-- Following the aftercare tips by Mr Jeeva.
All surgeries carry risks, including cosmetic procedures. There is a very small risk of complications, such as infection, excessive bleeding, bruising, or swelling of eyelids.
These risks, along with all aspects of the surgery and its costs, will be discussed during your consultation.
After your surgery, you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions and will have a follow-up appointment about 7 days later to assess healing and remove sutures.

Have a question in mind?
Ptosis is a condition where one or both the upper eyelids drop and cause difficulty in vision, headaches and various cosmetic concerns.
Ptosis correction has the following benefits:
-- Clarity and comfort of vision
-- Alert appearance
-- Eased headaches
-- Reduced eye strain
Swelling and bruising may resolve within 7–14 days after treatment; however, proper recovery may take months.
-- The majority of healing occurs in 2-3 weeks.
-- Mild residual swelling may stay for 1-2 weeks post-treatment
-- Complete healing may extend over several months, potentially up to 2 years. Factors such as age, smoking, use of blood-thinning medications, and underlying medical conditions like diabetes can influence the duration and outcome of the healing process.
